From 2009-2022, I taught students with visual impairments to use assistive technologies such as screen readers and screen magnifiers to access learning in their schools.

But...

Students still routinely missed out on learning and the opportunity to work with peers because of inaccessible web content. I knew that I was seeing just a slice of the access barriers that currently exist for all users.

My goal is to change that.

I want to make the web a more accessible place so that in the future, a blind student can independently operate a virtual Physics lab. In 2022, I transitioned to a career as an Accessibility Consultant. I spent two years working for Deque Systems auditing websites for WCAG conformance and teaching clients to create more accessible and inclusive web experiences.

I can't wait to embark on my next role to continue moving toward digital equality.
